To Proof, Perchance to Edit

You know, it’s really annoying when I have to fight the urge to comment in the margin of a script – “Your story is decent, but I want to hit all of your characters in the face with a brick.”

I’ve wanted to respond to emails about real people and events with the same note. :o)

You’re allowed to make those kind of comments. I do. But maybe they expect those of me by now. I might make it a little gentler, but if the characters are nonsympathetic, I don’t see a reason why you can’t make a note of it.

Then again, that might be why I’m known occasionally as the snarky one…

Hey, those comments are the best part of being an English teacher!

Sooo you are an English teacher – not an editor?
