Longest Week in the Whole World

This week ends now.

There has been so much insanity this week, I dont know where to begin..

How about..

– the kid who I had to teach how to brush his teeth today? Did i mention he is 18? yeah. gross. i now keep a toothbrush in my desk for him. it has a whale on it.

– the kid who had a med related spaz attack in my room. higher than a kite, im telling you. dancing, talking to herself, not talking with her tongue, telling me she loved me..and this is on prescription meds not illegal ones.

– the kid who almost went into sugar shock today in class, and when she was shaking and i tried to send a kid to get her some orange juice, she exploded and took off. visions of her collapsing somewhere floated through my head, but she did still retain enough sense to go to the nurse. she is pissed as hell at me, because i “announced it to the class and made a big deal out of it” but hell, i used deductive reasoning (cause i sure as hell didnt know til later that she was diabetic), and was worried, because her entire body was VIBRATING. and not in a good way.

– the kid who we staffed out of Sped, because he evidently didnt need us, as he hadnt had a special ed class all year and no one noticed.

– the teacher who called me at 6:30 this morning to ask a REALLY STUPID QUESTION THAT SO COULD HAVE WAITED UNTIL 7:30.

– my inability to form sentences.

However, i did retain enough mental functions to upgrade wordpress from 1.21 to 1.22. i feel very proud, as nothing was lost, and i managed to do it here, at work (shows you what kind of day i was having), without messing anything up. if you notice anything bizarre, please let me know.

Pardon the Politics

i really need to stop writing about politics, as this is a personal, and not a political blog. that, and politics gives me hives.

but.

i dont know how to feel just yet about the Iraq elections. ive heard odd things, like people’s food rations were to be cut if you didnt vote; and good things, like a large percentage of the population voting. all the newspapers are very “yay democracy!” and i just dont know..

i cant remember at this point how the guys running were picked. did we pick them? because that does not equal democracy. did we let the people pick? was it based on money, as it seems our elections are? (guy running has to have the moola to run the election, i mean, not that they are buying their way in).

im just..confused. and im concerned about what will happen now. i dont support the war, i never have. because i think our soldiers have no need to die for something that WASNT EVER THERE.

but, i did find a link to a State of the Union drinking game, which looks like fun. sadly, i do not drink of the alcohol, so i will be playing with dr pepper. which takes much of the fun out.

In Which I Grovel

Sometimes..ok, often, i can be a ditz.

And this week, i have been uber ditzy.

When Brandus called me to tell me that he had gotten into his Post-Bach Elementary Ed program, I was having a bad day.

So instead of telling him I was proud of him, i told him, “I told you so,” came home, and grumped around for awhile.

And then i was tired, and then was Jesus, and then more grump.

So ive basically sucked. So here is my proclamation of my husband.

My very brilliant husband has been accepted into a program that is very difficult to get into. He was convinced he would not get in, based on GRE scores, as well as the fact he hadnt sent in all his letters of rec, as well as general fear of bad grades that haunted him one year in undergrad.

It didnt help that he was scheduled to retake the GRE on the Monday we headed back to Georgia for my grandmother’s funeral. The due date for it was the next day, so basically, he missed it.

And so he changed his major and started focusing on Counseling instead.

And then he gets a phone call from the head of the department, asking, “what, did you change your mind?”

They accepted him based on his enthusiasm and his willingness to pursue his goals no matter what.

And Im really proud of him.

Go shower him with congratulations in his email here.

T-T-T-Touch Me

Went to Denver to see Jesus last night.

He says hi, by the way. And he would like for Bush et all to stop making his side look stupid.

oh no, wait, im sorry.

Went to Denver to see “Jesus Christ, Superstar” last night.

thats better.

it was oh so fabulous and Judas had an awesome voice, and i saw Jesus playing Marius the first time i saw Les Mis. Brandus had a great time as well, which i was slightly worried about, as he is of a buddhist persusion and i kept asking him, “do you know this part? what about this one? do you know who the apostles are?”

to which he rolled his eyes multiple times, patted my head and told me he was fine. that just because he didnt believe Jesus was all that, that he didnt know the stories. of course, then he kept tapping me during odd parts of the show, going, “who’s that?”

Judas and Mary both had amazing voices, and im pretty sure Mary made some people cry, as the guy next to me (once he removed his elbow from my spleen) looked to be slightly sniffly.

our seats were fabulous! we had to go downstairs to get to them! “your seats are downstairs to your left.”

what? NOT “take 3 flights of stairs to the top, grab your O2 mask, and enjoy the sparkles down front that might be actors, or could be your reaction to the low oxygen level.”

they were really playing up the love story angle of Mary and Jesus, which was very interesting to see, as instead of just being concerned about him, Mary seemed attached to his hip. not that he was much better. there was lots of touching and hair stroking and look at how much of my thigh my dress shows off! i thought it was awesome, as it really does seem to go from, “son of God” to “must sex her up,” which helps with the whole idea that Jesus was more than happy to go throw himself on a cross. after all, he could have had a perfectly pleasant life and had millions of babies and stuffs.

but it was very mcuh a good show, it was enjoyed muchly by Sir Brandus and myself, and we look forward to ever being able to afford lovely seats like that ever again!
